Winter Training - On The Right Bike

I love riding in the snow. The local trails here in Lincolnshire are not terribly exciting, mainly down to a lack of any significant gradient. However, a little bit of snow can enliven even the most dull of the tracks. It’s also an excuse to get the singlespeed out for a spin (or several spins if I get it a bit wrong!)

I had to venture into Leicestershire to find a hill even this big!

It always surprises me just how much fun a bike with one gear and rigid forks can be, but the thing which always takes some getting used to is the steering; a steep head-angle thanks to a short A-C measurement on the forks coupled with narrow 23” bars makes it very twitchy, not necessarily ideal on the snow and ice, but a lot of fun.
